Eva Natsumi rated it 4 of 5 stars I loved this! I have an obsession with Ireland, vampires, and sex, so this book was a must read for me. Kian, the hero, is a swoon-worthy Irish vampire who owns an escort agency. I was a little bummed that the story didn’t involve the escort agency more, but I got over it. This story was more about Darcey, the heroine, and Kian’s personal and romantic evolution.
Kian was taken as a slave over three hundred years ago, along with his wife and children. A strange man offers to free him, but there’s a catch (isn’t there always?), he will be a vampire. By the time he is strong enough and in control enough to free his family, it’s too late. They are too old and Kian is the same age. Kian spends the centuries alone and lost. Until Darcey.
Darcey is a woman scorned who’s trying to get her life back together. She gets offered a job by Kian but quickly finds out that she wants more from him than a job. They both try to keep it professional… but that fails miserably.
It was refreshing to read a paranormal romance that wasn’t completely action driven. Paranormals have feelings too! It seems that once a story is written about a vampire it’s either death or Psycho slashings. I liked reading about emotional evolution and character development for once. That’s not to say this story didn’t have action, but it didn’t derail the story like with most PNR. I highly recommend!
